Does anyone have any idea about these guns? I saw a cz 550 american in the gun shop and it felt great and looked pretty good also. I have heard of them before, but not much info about them. Does anyone know and would you mind filling me in on 1 if there good. I felt it, but never shot 1 !! Any Help ???

Thanks Again

I have a CZ 550 in 9.3 x 62 and it is one of the most accurate rifles I own..

They are an excellent value...Not fancy, but well made and very accurate.. I've read many reports about them on the forums and everyone who owns one seems to have the same opinion...

Very good quality, but the safetys are backwards so I won't be buying one anytime soon.

I currently own the CZ 452 American in the .17 HMR caliber. Love the quality and workmanship on this little caliber gun. I wouldn't hesitate to get one of their centerfire rifles after purchasing this gun.

I have owned two and both were all that I could ask for. very good accuracy and well made. I don't like the safety but can definitely over look that when everything else is considered. I would highly recommend a cz.

jeepkid...Safeties are backwards...??..Not necessarily so...

Perhaps on some models, but on my CZ 550 American, the safety rocks forward to fire, just like a Rem 700...

My buddy has a Cz 452 ( or is it a 453 ? ) in .17 HRM that has the European style safety that moves toward the rear to fire, so obviously it varies from model to model..

I'm assuming that my rifle is different due to the " American" designation..Never handled a LUX, which is the Euro version of the 550..

i just wish they made a synthetic stocked or laminate stocked hunting rifle...I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

But in soggy Seattle...I'll have to pass.

Pygmy, thanks thats good to know. That must be why they made the "American" version. I might have to consider them again
