Default 7mm - 08

I saw a really nice engraved Ruger MKII for sale at a local shop at a great price. Only kick is the round for the rifle is 7mm-08. I have absolutly no working knowledge of this round. How reliable is it? Does it kick hard? How accurate? I guess what I'm saying is how does it stack up to a .308 or 30-06. Both of which I am framiliar with?

Thanks for your help.

Chuck

7mm-08 is just a 308 Win case necked down. Yes, it's a great cartridge. Versitile too since 7mm bullet selection covers from 90-175 gr. Recoil is usually a bit less than a 308 Win rifleof the same weight.

Excellent deer round, I bought one three years ago and have smoked quite a few deer with it.

Low recoil, does good on animals all the way up to elk.

The 7mm-08 is a good cartridge, light recoil, and hits pretty hard on the business end.

IMO the perfect deer cartridge with no (almost) recoil!! Does a great job on woodchucks too!

It's hard to argue with that.

Makes for an excellent deer hunting rifle with a mild recoil and very pleasant to shoot at the range...

What about the 7mm Rem Mag? Is it just a Mag sized 7mm-08? Is the recoil substatually more? Just curious.

The 7mm Rem. Mag is an excellent cartridge but does have more recoil. I have used the 7mm Rem. Mag for years but now enjoy the 7 mm-08 allot more for deer hunting. The 7 mm-08 is also comes in a short action rifle compared to long action for the 7 mm Rem. Mag...
