One of the big reasons I don't like Savage rifles is the finish on there stainless rifles... I noticed in one of my gunsmithing books that they sell some kind of dura coat paintfor this... I'm wondering if this process is very hard to do...

There stainless steel is way to bright for me in the deer woods... I like a finish like the Rem and Brownings have.... I just don't want to pay hundreds of $$$ to get it...

Don't know?? I just compared my Savage .300 wsm sporter stainless, my 22.250 Savage bull bbl stainless, and my .17 hmr Savage bull bbl stainless, to my DPMS AR .308 stainless bull bbl, my RRA .223 bull bbl stainless, my Ruger #1 .204 bull bbl stainless, and my Marlin mod 60 stainless .22 and they all look the same for sheen; which is basically nonexistant. I don't think this is an issue for hunting as I have shot a lot of coyotes with my Savage bull bbl 22.250. I would recommend a camo no mar tape before I would get into altering the finish. I think you worry too much IMO.
