TAP ammo is nothing more than The standard Hornady ammo with the standard XTP bullets. They simply coat the cases in black nickel and use low flash powders.


James, for your winter carry ammo you may want to look into Federals expanding full metal jacket. I have seen a few expanded bullets after being fired into water and the do exactly as advertised. I think it would be a much better defensive round than ball ammo when thick clothing is a concern.

In my Glock 23 I prefer Speer Gold Dot 180 gr.

Actually i use Glaser safety slugs they are very effective at close range but will not penitrate the 2 nd wall of a house.

They are similar to shot gun shot but are incased in a fmj The design was made so the shot doesn't release untill the bullet hits a target. I beleive they have there for a lot of different cals including the 357 mag

12 gauge 00 buck shot. goes right through the drywall so if anyone is in the house....well you get the picture

also have a AR-15. i usually have 50 gr V-MAX bullets, not my first choice for in house defense.

Out of my 2 .45's. One is a H&K USP .45 and the other is a Kimber Custom Compact. I use 200 grain Speer Gold Dots. they are the best IMHO.

I just happened across a box of Winchester Ranger 9mm +P+. 127 grain SXT. Looks an awful lot like the old Black Talons to me (which I aso have a few of).
