Default Difference in 870 Models

Is there any difference, other than cosmetic, between the Remington 870 Wingmaster,Special Purpose and Express?

The express has a synthetic trigger group housing while the 870 is steel.

The wingmaster has better tolerances, fit and finnish I think. They take basically the same parts, but the action is smoother on a wingmaster than it is on a cheaper field grade model. Maybe they posish the internals or something?

they are practically the same gun but the wingmasster is built with better components but as far as the 870 goes they are all great guns no matter which one you buy. of curse the mag models will handle 3" shells and the supermag models will handle the 3 1/2" shells.

The push pins in the reciever are the same and so is the acorn magazine cap. The safety is in the same spot also. However, most finishes on the express are parkerized and the wood for the most part looks very cheap almost like cardboard "if you ask me". The wingmaster exibits better wood and also " in most cases" better checkering with ribbons and even fleur de lis sometimes exept for the earlier wingmasters that seldom had checkering and had the tootsie roll forearm. Also the wingmasters had a blueing on them instead of parkerizing. I like to think of the wingmaster as the beauty and I think of the express as the braun. But in the end both will give the same results....Game on the table

Fit an finish on the upper end 870s is better than those on the Express models. And more of the parts on the Express are stamped or cast.
All the 870s are junk - All you guys should just wrap them up and send them to me. I will take them off your hands and all it will cost you is the postage. You can email me for my address.

My 870 wingmaster's triggergroup was certainly not polished!!!! and it had the worst trigger out of all my shotguns, rifles and pistols...until I fixed it
