RE: Remington 870
I think thatI have decided to go with 870 Super Mag, what should I expect to pay for it? I know that I can get an 870 Express for $218, but what about the Super Mag?

RE: Remington 870
i got mine for around 240 or 250 $ at walmart. it is a great gun and i love using the 3 1/2 inch shells. As far as the kick goes, i really dont mind it too bad. when u get a super full turkey choke the kick will increase more but i am 15 years old and 140 pounds and it doesnt bother me a bit. Really does a number on goblers, you will really enjoy this gun.

RE: Remington 870
I wouldn't care about the 3 1/2" capability, 3" is all you'll ever need. I'd go with the shorter barrel if you had the choice. I'm using an 870 express now, and the 28" barrel is a bit long for turkey hunting, especially when coupled with an extended choke tube. If you can get the supermag with the shorter barrel, it would be worth the extra few bucks instead of shelling out a whole lot more fora differentbarrel. Just because its chambered to be able to shoot 3 1/2" shells doesn't mean you have to shoot them.

RE: Remington 870
Excellent choice. Although the 3 1/2 isn't always necessary, it's a nice to have option. I bought my first express super mag from my friend and I loved the thing. He soon regreted it and wanted to buy it back so I let him. I ended up buying myself a fancy wingsmaster super magnum and I just love that thing even more. Just buy the gun you want, you won't regret it. I've seen the express super mag go for $250 at most stores so that's what you can expect to pay unless you want the wingmaster version which is $550.

RE: Remington 870
the 870 is a great choice and i agree with rammer that the 3 1/2 isnt what its hyped up to be. its not really that great. 3 inch stuff is probably more then enough for what you will use it for. shooting ducks with a 3 1/2 is kinda silly aint it. do you pheasant hunt with 3 1/2 i kinda doubt it but o well and as far as the turkeys go 3 inch is plenty. ive got 3 usin my 870 with winchester 1 3/4 oz. 5 shot. a neighbor of mine shot one with a 20ga last year and dropped it 1shot so the 3 1/2 is only more money. its not really worth it.
