You didn't say what caliber. I don't show a 40XBR, but I show a 40XB and a 40 XBBR. Also ther is a differnce in value between kevalr stock and wood stock
The 40XB wood=$563.00 in mint with box
The 40 XB kevlar=$1031.00 in mint with box

thw 40 XBBR (which is avaliable in cenetrfire calibers)
Wood stock=$869.00 in mint with box
Kevlar stock=$1119.00 mint with box

The book says 869.99. But the book can sometimes be on the low side. The fact that it is old and minty makes it more sought after. I lloked on auction arms and gun broker and they are asking from between 775 and 2300 bucks for different 40 xb'x. but none like yours are listed. But asking and getting are two different things.
I am a gun show junkie and my guess is around a grand. But the unusual caliber may make harder to sell. Then again since it is unusual and as such harder to find, there may be some guy out there who has been looking for that very rifle for years.
Sounds like a beautiful gun. Your grandad had good taste.
Have you fired it? If it is indeed unfired, then it is worth more unfired. But if it has been fired the value drops a little. A piece like that was meant to be shot.
Are you trying to sell it or just value it? It would be ashame to sell it being you grandad's old gun. And I bet it will turn out to be ludicrouly accurate.
Can you post a pic?

hey thanks okcmco i wouldnt dream of sellin it i was just valuing it. i havent shot it but from what i understand my granddad did a lil benchrest shooting with it. it has a scope base on it so it at one time must have had a scope on it. he does have excellent taste. he is a licenced gun dealer so he always got the best of the best. i would post a pic if i could figure it out. any help would be good or if i could send them to someone and they could post them that would be great. thx again

Well, I haven't posted any pics yet either so no help there!! lol. You oughta put a bench scope on it. 24 or 36 fixed power. Find a used japanese tasco on ebay or get a sighton or weaver. Get some sand bags and see what that bad boy will do! Who knows, by then you maight have the technology to post pictures of your targets
