Look at the NEF rifles. (New England Firearms) They are single shots break action, no-frill guns. They are well within you're budget (200-ish). If you insist on a nice trigger take it to a gunsmith and spend another 50. You sit at less than half you budget with dependable light/crisp triggered gun that you can then top with a very nice scope. (Guys who aren't limited in budget often swear by the saying that you should spend at least as much on a scope as the rifle..."you can't shoot what you can't see") You can then buy any one of a number of barrels for other cartridges....223, 45-70 and alot in between.

If you do have trigger work done, get the extra barrels first!! NEF will put a factory trigger back in, legal crap.
