Remington 710 7mm
what do you think of this gun?
just bought it brand new for $334 for moose hunting season any reviews would be nice |
RE: Remington 710 7mm
I have personally fired two 710's.Accuracy was acceptable but the actions were so rough that I had to take the gun from my shoulder to cycle the bolt.

RE: Remington 710 7mm
Not trying to be rude but since you already bought the gun any reviews we give aren't going to do you much good now are they?
Lets just say that for the same amount of money I would have bought a Howa or a Savage. |
RE: Remington 710 7mm
Or a Winchester package or SAVAGE package for the same $$$.

RE: Remington 710 7mm
i looked into the prices and the next cheapest gun was $500 dollars,
and previous remingtons i have shot had proven to be an all around great shooting gun |
RE: Remington 710 7mm
As mentioned in an earlier post, the action leaves something to be desired, but for the money I like my 710 in .30-06. If you browse around enough, you'll find the 710 gets trashed pretty good (usually for either being "ugly" or for the roughness of the action), but for those of us who have them we usually find the accuracy acceptable.

RE: Remington 710 7mm
If it was a 20 year old remmington , you would have been better off , quality control has taken a dive at remmington lately . Tikka , Savage , CZ , or Winchester would have been my choices . At the price point of that gun , Savage would have got my business . The action is slightly rougher ,partly due to tight headspace [ read quality and accuracy] , and their blueing is less than optimal , but as far as accuracy goes , theres no contest , its savage all day every day . The tikka as butter smooth , has excelent blueing and probably the best value out there nowadays . Some of the 710s were recalled , and I have heard of various problems with them .

Shoot it, enjoy it and don't worry too much about what others say about it. For sure it's not the best gun out there, it's not even close. Some day maybe you can buy a really nice rifle.

RE: Remington 710 7mm
Is the bolt handle still attached?
|
RE: Remington 710 7mm
Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention the "urban legend" of the bolt handle falling off in one's hand.;)
Some of you may be glad to know Remington is in talks to import more firearms for the "lower price point". Don't know where they'll come from, but read excerpts from a shareholder meeting on another board. |
