RE: Remington 710 7mm
If you can show me someone who can put 11 out of 11 shots in a three inch circle, I will show you 11 dead animals. I don't know any deer with a vital area smaller than three inches. Even if you never get any more accurate than that you will be fine at reasonable distances.

Sounds like that gun has done its job just fine. My not be the most refined rifle out there but it works. Congrats on your moose.

ORIGINAL: bigbulls Not trying to be rude but since you already bought the gun any reviews we give aren't going to do you much good now are they? Lets just say that for the same amount of money I would have bought a Howa or a Savage. You will get 9 out of 10 negative reviews on the 710 or the 597, so I hope you are not too sensitive!:D My friendly piece of advice is, "dump it, BEFORE it dumps you! I'd hate to lose a 41in. bull because of a poor quality gun or a cheap scope! I've got way too much time, effort, and money tied up in hunting, to chance it on poor equipment! |
RE: Remington 710 7mm
I also got a 710. Their not bad. My gunsmith said the magnums had all the problems because of the action being stretched. Mine is a 30-06 and after two years it's doing fine. 11 shots in three inches... that's fine.
this gun was made for hunting. It's cheap, so no worries about replacement parts. Don't be afraid to drag her through the mud. The bolt actually operates smoother dry. There's teflon inserts around the bolt that don't like oil, but when they ware out there's too much play in the bolt. I've seen a friend pull the bolt right out without flipping the bolt release, but this guy's huge and clumsy. Mine never did that. The only problem I had was the magazine release shatterd, but that took two seconds to fix. Next to any other gun with a synthetic stock, it feels the strongest. I've heard the gun called ugly by so many people, yet it's all buisiness to me?! Looks like it was made for the real world. You know that place that's not always nice? Yeah Yeah, the place you wouldn't drag your wife's gun! Asside of that, don't listen to everything you hear. Most of the opinions out there are based on something they read. Go shoot it, see for yourself, it's really an alright gun! |
RE: Remington 710 7mm
The latest 710's have a metal reciever instead of the teflon-plastic one. Supposedly it is a real reliable gun now. I am still not shure. As long as I can get a 700 for around 400, I will probably stick with that. EJ
