I bought my son a Win.1300 20gayouth mod. when he was 12 and he is 27 and
still has it. He hunted all his youth with it and still shoots great.

It makes you wonder why the 1300 isn't more popular. Look at almost any poll regarding shotguns, and you'll see an overwhelming Remington and Mossberg fan base, with Winchester lagging behind .

Fellas I'm ignorant (lacking knowledge that is) to the 1300. I've heard the action opens by itself when shot and ejects the hull. Is this true. And if so, does it eject light loads and is there any risk of getting pinched?:D:(

fantail I forget the exact terminology Winchester uses for it (like I said it's been over 20 years since I got mine one Christmas) but what the action does is the lugs on the bolt unlock when the gun fires. Depending on the loads power (and guns age) it may or may not open over half way. But what it does is make the action easier and quicker to cycle as a result of the slide being "opened" upon the firing of each shot. I know with mine I can pull the trigger on an empty chamber and the bolt will open and the slide will come back about 1/2".

Neat lil system for a neat lil gun, ;)

Yes the shotgun is designed for quicker reload as Red mentioned. Mine does it all the time.
