Zrex, I always have an interest in old cartridges. About how much did that small hog weight that you shot with the 22 Hornet?

Bout 40 lbs. I passed up a shot on a larger hog. I was looking for a small one, better eating in my book. You really ought to look into the hornet. it makes 4/5 ths the power of a .222 with half the powder. Its faster and flatter shooting than a 17 HMR with a 45 gr bullet which gives a lot more umph. I dont know why this cartridge has faded. Some say it's making a come back. I have used it on a couple of does when I was a kid and had no problems with a 100 lb deer. I just got a new one a couple of months back. At 40 yds with a 45 gr Hollow poing, it blew straight through a 4x4 and on through a picket fence. It's a vicious little round.

Thanks for the info. Well, even Ruger is putting out some 22 hornet rifles, as is CZ. So I think it is keeping a market. I am giving it thought. Recalls my days as a kid shooting the flats in Nebraska!
