might be just layers of fouling. did you try a good copper solvent? clean it good and check for loose parts and for things that dont look right. i would let a gunsmith have a look at it also.

Trade it off for a bolt gun, you'll have better luck.

I have had four of them so far. They shot as good as 80 percent of the bolt rifles out there. All that I have owned will shoot one inch to one and a half inch hundred yard groups. The have never malfunctioned in any way. I have a new one now that shoots just as good as the older ones. One That I had in 270 was the most accurate rifle that I have ever owned. With 130 grain Nosler Ballistic tips I shot several 3/4 inch three shot groups at 200 yards. This right out of the box. The one I have now in 30-06 will shoot 1-1/4 inch groups every time out with 150 grain Speer grandslam bullets. IMO they are one of the best and most dependable out of the box deer rifles that money can buy.

I've said this before. The 2 7600s that I have owned were equal to (if not better than) the 4 M700s I've had in similar calibers. Bolts are much easier to tinker with however.

Ya know, I had a remington auto loader and didnt like it. It was finicky about ammo (concerning accureacy) and the accureacy was 4 inches or so at 200 yards. More importantly, the stocks on those are lousy IMO. I traded for a remington 700 bolt and I actually shoot much better, mostly becasue the stock fits better. You can work with it, but I think that bolts will inherently be a little more acuureate merely due to the lock up design. EJ

The Pumps shoot much better than the Auto. You can't began to compare them. I have not seen a Remington pump that will not shoot 1 1/2 inch groups OR BETTER as a rule. Many bolts will not do better and some not as well. Being accurate is not an issue with them. They come with a free floated barrel and a rotary locking bolt. They have even been used ii the past by military shooting teams.

My 7600 in 35 Whelen with 200 gr factory loads shoot about 2.5" @ 100 yds, my 200 gr Hornady interloks handloads are printing 1.25" @ 100. Nothing wrong with the style of gunsome people just don't take the time to find out what the gun likes. Granted, handloading does make it easier to find the sweet spot.

I have a 760 which I have rechambered to .358 win and I won't even tell you how good it shoots because it would just start a bunch of useless arguing but let me just say that most of the pumps I have worked with have been extremely accurate and like most hereI am a serious bolt/ reloader guy. If yours doesn't shoot have it looked at by a gunsmith, it might be something simple to cure.

I had a Remington pump in a 270 quite a while ago and this is one rifle that I wish I still had. I have to agree with James, my 270 pump shot much better then my Remington 308 semi auto that my dad gave me.
