We just finished up our 3 day ML season here in MD. Had a run in with a nice 8pt in the 125" range on opening day but it wasnt meant to be. The piece that holds the 209 primer broke early in the morning when I was putting the primer in. Anytime I tilted the gun my primer would fall out, well at 9am I decided to climb down and go get the piece to fix my gun. I walked out of the woods into the field and there is an 8 pt standing at the other end about 300 yards away. I snuck up to about 100 yards, and tried to take the shot, but everytime I would try to shoot the bolt would slide forward and the primer would cock to the side and not go off, I tried 3 times to get a shot off but it wasnt working, eventualy the buck worked his way back into the woods. Next 2 days saw a lot of deer including a few bucks but no shooters. Back to the bow until the end of Nov when our rifle season starts.

I dont think im gonna get a deer this year. We got kicked off the land we were hunting on. They said someone was dumping trash there. WAS NOT US! theres some monster deer there, but like i said, they quit giving out permits. I COULD hunt here by my house, theres about 50 or so acres, mabe 100 that i could hunt on, but Ive lived here for 8 or 9 years, and i have never really seen any big boys, i mean, theres quite a few deer here, but theres none that I have seen thats up to my standards. I have to get a buck thats at least an 8 pointer, and it has to score at least 120 green. theres a Lot of them kind here in Southern Indiana, but not here around my house. I could shoot the 100 inch albino that lives here, but Im not going to, its the only albino buck known in the area.
