96 yard crossbow kill
No, not me, I wouldn't even dream of taking a shot that long.
I was watching huntin' shows yesterday and Craig Morgan, country singer & wannabee huntin' star, took that shot OFF HAND at an antelope. Yes he hit and killed the goat. I know they say it ain't braggin' if you can do it but 96 YARDS??? Where does the word ETHICAL come into play here?
For you longtime crossbow shooters...How many times out of a 100 could you make this shot in the field, off hand at a feeding animal?
Was his shot pure luck?

Unethical and very lucky. I once hit a groundhog at approximately 70 yards, (I know, not 96) but I would be the first to admit that it was very lucky. And I would never attempt anything past 30 yards on a deer or other big game animal....

Yeah, if you watch that video, the bolt skips off the ground and then hits the animal. Right before he shoots he says "What do I have to loose". You have nothing to loose but the animal does if you put a bad shot on it. 100% luck and 100% unethical bad advertising for Barnett and Wild Game Nation for airing this crap.

I shot a doe this season at 38 yds. and didn't realize it till I measured it after the kill. thought I was taking a 25 to 28 yd shot. If I know how far it really was, I don't think I would have taken the shot. but I must admit, that a 40 yd shot is not out of my capability anymore.

I am just new at Crossbow hunting but I would never ever think of shooting past 40 yards. Sounds unethical and why I hesitate sometimes to watch hunting shows because it is about the money. So they do crazy things to sell the shows!
