Hi, I just bought my first Excalibur crossbow, the Phoenix. I have just shot it 4 times with a 20 inch, heavy weight, aluminium arrow and everything seemed fine. I then noticed a couple of strange "cracks" on one of the limbs but I'm not convinced they are cracks and could be just the camo coming away and revealing indents in the limbs. I'm fairly new to crossbows so I don't know a lot about them.
Should I be concerned?

That has to the best closeup pic If seen on a post. As for the ?-crack try running a cotton ball across the area if it snags so cotton you might have a problem. to me it look looks a defect in the finish. I had a limb crack on a Horton and the line-Cracks where very noticeable and parallel.Good luck

Thats very common in Excals hand laid limbs, doesn't affect performance. I have a 98 vixen carved tip limbs & i have them. Its 12 yrs old stills shoots with the best new one's around

Yeah I also posted this on the Excal forum and they are all saying it's normal.

Anyways I'm loving my first Excalibur, it's just as good as everyone says it is. Hopefully I'll be shooting it for many many years. It was tough deciding between the Phoenix and the Vixen but I'll probably end up having both lol.
I've caught the Excal bug!

I have a vixen & a phoenix, being its an older vixen they are no where near equal in power. The vixen will shoot 250 fps with its hunting set-up & the phoenix shoots 290 fps. I hunt with my vixen & shoot it twice as much as its so much easier to c0ck & is easier on center serving of strings

similar topic on archery talk. i wouldnt want a new bow to look like that. if it is just a defect when they mould them why can they just use a crack filler before camo dipping the limbs. iver never seen cracks like that on a compound bow limb. i wonder why they would even let that through quality control. it would bug the heck out of me. as long as your happy and they say its safe i guess its all good.

I personally would send an e-mail including that pic to the customer service center and ask them about it. I had a crossbow limb snap on me a few years ago and it is no fun, believe me!

I've never seen a post on an Excal limb breaking since '04 when I got into them. Occasional pilot error induced splinters from dry fires w/ FFF string has been it. Even those are warrantied.

I set my Excal in bed of pickup, uncased and then drive 8 miles on rocky roads to one stand. Never had a problem.
