Default broadheads

What broadhead have you guys had success with using? I use slicktricks with my compound bow, but my dad drew a moose permit and is using a crossbow. He just got the new Horton Legend 175. I'm not sure you can tune a crossbow as precisely as a compound, so I am curious to which broadhead to use, short of buying a bunch of different ones just to tryout.

Slick Tricks are likely to work well. I like the G5 Striker. I used the magnums with great success.

I was also curious about the G5 Montecs. Anybody know anything about these broadheads shot out of a crossbow?

They work well too. Good solid head, what I've been told by users is that it is less likely to go off course in a deer compared to other broadheads. I've shot them but not whacked anything with them so I will say they fly very well.

They fly exactly like a field tip and get the job done.

Have not fired these (G5) out of a crossbow, but have killed several deer with my compound and these heads. Rugged and fly the best of any broadhead out of MY setup. I went back to Thunderheads because of cost, but if I were going Elk hunting tomorrow...it'd be the G5.

Slicks worked great on a Buffalo awshucks killed couple yrs ago. So they should do the job on a moose. Montec G5 i shot a nice 8 pt with one last yr. Its a good BH but it will blow thru more than cut & sometimes blood trail is hard to find. If shot low in chest its great.
