IMMEDIATE ACTION:
A Letter of Intent has been filed in the Mississippi Secretary of States office by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) that would allow the use of crossbows by all hunters during the early archery season in Mississippi Wildlife Management Areas (WMA).
This is the most important move towards full crossbow inclusion, by all hunters and in all seasons in Mississippi, that we have ever had and this Letter of Intent is internal to the MDWFP and does not require legislative approval.
This Letter of Intent accomplishes two things:
(1) It defines Archery Equipment as including crossbows.
(2) It allows the use of crossbows, in not only the gun and primitive weapons seasons, but it also allows crossbows in the early archery season - Thus, Full Crossbow Inclusion, In All Seasons, By All Hunters and In All Wildlife Management Areas.
You can be assured that those that are against crossbow use, by all hunters in Mississippi and in all seasons, have already launched their campaign against this proposal.
This matter will be taken up at the next meeting of the MDWFP Commission where the decision will be made to either implement or not to implement.
The MDWFP has requested public comment. Now is the time for you to make your voice heard. You should act as soon as possible.
The volume of responses is critical. Now is the time for you to act and to also ask of your family and friends to voice their support.
The MDWFP has requested that letters voicing support to be sent as soon as possible.
Letters of support should be sent to:
MDWFP

E-mail messages of support should be sent to: [email protected]
