Default How far do crossbows shoot?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how far a 175 crossbow will shoot a 20 inch arrow?

Far enough to be careful of what's behind your target. I'm curious why you want to know what the max distance is on a short range hunting tool? Safety concerns? Have fun!

it depends on the arc you put on it...are you talkin about an ethical shot? if so you will need to find your own on that.

Yeah, I just want to make sure when I go out and make my first shot that I provide plenty of room (sighting it in) so I am making a safe shot.

I "let one fly" 3 years ago by accident in my backyard! Never thought I'd see it again! The next year my son-in-law shot a nice 8 late archery season and I helped him track the buck. Guess what I found??? My bolt was sticking out of the ground 3' from were the buck died, that had to be over 400 yards as the crow flys were I shot the bolt...

id say out to 30-35 yards accurately and with plenty of kill power anything outside of that and the bolt will start dropping !!
