Default Re-Enactment Safe Low Powered Limb Prods?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a replacement limb prod for an old Barnett Wildcat that would be safe to use for re-enactment/live roleplay purposes in the UK. As a guideline, standard bows are restricted to 25-30lb pull depending on which event you attend, so I'm looking for something equivalent in crossbow terms.
The lowest I've seen to date (that wasn't a toy) was a 50lb limb prod, I'm wondering if that would suit, considering that a crossbow needs the higher poundage to fire equivalent distances to a bow.

I'd appreciate any information you could give me.

Cheers,

Giles Meakin

You could most likely get the 50# limbs and put a longer string on it. This would reduce the poundage. I'm not sure by how much or how much longer a string to use though. You would need to experiment.
