Default temporary fix?

what can you use if your serving is worn and you want to continue shooting before getting it repaired.

i read somewhere that some used DENTAL FLOSS.

its hard at times to get to shop and for them to repair serving.

i see a LOT of this at range, serving are worn and they cant get shop to work on it for a week or so do to hunting season etc.

There are several things you can do:
1. Brownell's makes a product called cable fix, also saw something called servicing saver, but I have to admit I have not tried them as I make and serve my own.
2. Learn how to serve. It's not that hard. Lots' of info out on the net, even videos.
DO NOT keep shooting with separated or worn serving. It can cause the string to wear and weaken leading to a potential string failure.

I used dental floss on things like peep sights, string silencers, ect on my vertical bows and in a pinch I may even use it on a low poundage bow that I was shooting fingers with, but any thing being shot with a release aid or any kind of a crossbow that has high poundage and trigger "jaws" holding the string I wouldnt use it for serving, IMO it isnt even close to being able to hold up tothe loadsits being put under when used as servingand offers little to no protection for the string...

Teflon tape can get you some extra life out of your serving.

Had the same problem, I used regular cotton string to get me by until my new string came in, I did it right on the bow, Took the 2 bolts out left me with string stretched, Worked good, then I got some serving material, after 3 or 4 times its ez. Here is the one I found on the net.

Good luck, Stan
