It does not sound like you have very many places to buy crossbows or accessories so I would advise you to buy a recurve. Currently the only two would be the Ten Points or Excaliburs. Ten Point is very new to the recurve business but a very good company that really wants you to be happy. Excalibur is basically the original recurve company with an impeccable history of customer service that borders on ridiculous. What will be most meaningful to you is how often the bows will need attention being that you don't have a crossbow shop nearby.

Not sure why you want a hunting crossbow when hunting's illegal, but I'd recommend Excalibur or Excalibur. The Vixen is a 150# draw weight and the most accurate crossbow i've ever owned. The Phoenix is 175# and very close to the vixen on accuracy if not as accurate. I use the Phoenix for hunting, so I sold the Vixen, but I often wish I'd kept it for target shooting.
Either one can be taken down by removing the two bolts that hold the riser to the rail and re-assembled with no change of POI or accuracy.

Hi im in the UK as well but moving to canada in September, where ill be able to hunt. id be very careful if your going to keep/use a crossbow in the UK as the police dont look kindly on ppl using then, i believe its still legal to buy one but not to hunt with one or even carry it around. if you get stopped by the police carrying a crossbow even disassembled in a bag your looking at being arrested and facing charges.

Id say just move to canada ! then you can do what you like within reason legally as the UK sucks.

Excals or TenPoint, you can't go wrong with either of them....both have outstanding customer service
