new exocet in route!!
i won a exocet on ebay today bare bow 355.00>385.00 TMD i'm stoked got to have the real deal, my stealth x-2 has a partner, what can i expect from her and how different of a feel bow is it compared to my tenpoint???speedball...............:)
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
Congrats! Great news indeed!
I can't tell you how it will compare to your other bow, but I will say you are in for a real treat, you just bought the nicest bow out there as far as I am concerned. |
RE: new exocet in route!!
thanks Pydpiper, i've waited along time for this, i take it you own an exocet also?, if so what arrow combo do you shoot out of it?
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
Congratulations Speedball! You are going have a ............ball!
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
Congrats...
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
Congrats, that's a steal! Pydpiper is shooting "Millers Killers" GT's like Danny Milller advises, brass inserts 431 gr total w/ 4" vanes. Ironically, this is nearly the same arrow as 10 pt Elites[?]were a while back, think theirs is a few gr lighter due to plastic nocks vs alum. You may already have some for the 10 pt? Can't go wrong w/ either arrow or either bow!
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
I use the Gold Tip II, brass inserts and 2" Blazer vanes. That doesn't mean it will work well for you, but most who try that combo are very happy with it.
Yes, I shoot the identical bow.:D I would suggest the Lumi-Zone or Vari-zone on top of it, it makes for an unbeatable combination. |
RE: new exocet in route!!
yeah i'll try the GT II's with the blazers have not tried the blazers yet still stuck on 4" feathers, i shoot 2216's off my stealth w/4" feathers and 125 grain up front 431 grains total, off the tenpoint 125 slicks fly like darts, i shot a nice 11 point last year with an elite shaft at 2 yards, it was a pass-through and the shaft broke and left the last 6"in the buck, wierd huh? the excal will probably be called my daughters cause she likes the weight savings of the bow, but its my new toy!!!!, does anyone here know "Greywolf "from the excal site, i heard he makes real nice bolts to sell that are wraped and 2" Blazers, saw some once i was drooling, i know i gotta get a groundponder quiver mount and a BOO string too;)p.s pydpiper your exactly right about the varizone-lumizone choice, just gotta get wound up again and spend my penny's,speed............

RE: new exocet in route!!
thanks hotburn we here in ohio love crossbows all different makes and models, Findlay,?? by Toledo?? i'm by Ravenna,speed.............
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
Yep, about 35 min south of Toledo. You are due east about two and half hours just off 224. Nice to hear from a fellow buckeye!!
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
yes sir we here in ohio have alot to be proud of when it comes to crossbows, i was told we legalized crossbows here in 1976? thats quite an achievement and it was real future oriented by the o.d.n.r to legalize them when EVERYONE hated them!! i know alot of people in the industry and its really taking off now, i think it says alot that i'm real good friends at a major crossbow manufacturer, and i'm buying there competitons bow,i think he'll understand even though they came out with a recurve this year (oop's), i had to own on excal too much good talk about them,speed..........
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
speedball,
I'm about as far south as you can get in Ohio (between Cinci & Portsmouth), butI have been to Ravenna a few times. (My wife lived in Ravenna before we were married. ;)) Congrats on the new Excalibur! |
RE: new exocet in route!!
Wabi and Speedball, also anyone else who does not have it. I think it is nice to know where someone is from. Now I go far and list my city, but I think its nice when some people at least say NE Ohio, or SW Ohio in there profile. I think it helps us out when you have hunting questions. Lots of fellow hunters in here and most don't realize we have neighbors!!
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
Just updated my profile to say where I'm from. ;)
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
Speed, here is your 200 with the Groundpounder mount..

RE: new exocet in route!!
man pydpiper thats what i'm after!! thanks wabi and hotburn also you guys are the best!!, where does the majority of you guys keep the string on the two lines?, pydpiper--is yours close to the first line?or does this depend on using an fff string? i plan on going with an fff or Boo string,is that a pellet stove or a woodburner?? i have a Jotul woodburner(castine), its a real money saver!!;)
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
I keep mine on right on top of the top mark, the mark closest to your scope. On the Excal forum guys call the sweet spot the 1 1/8" mark which is right about the top mark, and I think that is where DNK recommends his strings be at.
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
I keep my string right at the line farthest from the riser. (about 1 1/8")
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
Speedball, that is one expensive cast iron stove!
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
I keep my brace height at 1 1/8", I used to check it about every 30 seconds or so while shooting, the Boo string has eliminated the "what if" part of that, I no longer check it as often.
Here is how to check it, and another photo of the 200 with a GP mount, this one must be old, I havn't used 4" vanes for a while. ![]() ![]() |
RE: new exocet in route!!
o.k. i'm starting to get it now thanks pydpiper, yeah Boo its an expensive stove but i have this theory that you buy it once and have it for life kinda thing, hence going with the exocet buy it once for life!!!! that thing puts out the heat too!! How do i go about getting one of your strings Boo?? majority says there awesome i think that aught to be my first accessory,speed...........
|
RE: new exocet in route!!
Just send an email for a string.
I have the same stove as you do. It's slow in starting and I usually use the dust pan door to start the sucker but once it is started it is amazing, especially for it's size. Yup, it will be a family heirloom. |

As for Boo's string I put my first one onearly inhunting seasonand checked it daily (target shooting and hunting, so it got a few shots every day) for two or three weeks before I finally got to give it a couple twists to shorten it. Haven't had to adjust it since. (a couple months now!):) |
RE: new exocet in route!!
The main difference between the CB's other than looks and designs. Its the wt. and balance, thats what really make people choose one or the the other, the feel of it!
|
