That string looks shot, lol. Suspect you don't have your brace height set correctly if the string is hitting dovetails. There should be two lines scribed on top of rail, you need to be inside them, but some times new strings sit higher than top mark til they stretch in. The "sweet spot" for most Excals is about 1 1/8" from end of riser for brace height. That's about the thickness of a string below high mark.

I can tell from the up close pic of the string and the pic of your entire CB that your Brace Height is not set right, not even close! Here is a pic of what it should look close to. If you look at my pic and then look at your Riser end you will see the two marks that AWSHUCKS mentioned. I keep mine on the top mark like he also said. Your string is set way to low and slapping the metal and causing your problems. I would stop shooting it, you risk breaking the string on full draw and could hurt you or your CB. Hope this helps.

First, thanks for the response and information. OK, I will take off the existing string and use the string that came with the bow. Does the DVD show how to set the height? I don't remember seeing that part? If not, how do you set the height? After I set the height, is that going to effect the sight adjustments I made? Which brings up the next question: Everytime you change strings to you reset scope adjustments?

You shorten strings [increase b height] by putting twists in them, it's on dvd. Normally, if you change strings of the SAME TYPE to the same bheight you won't need much if any adj on scope. IIRC, it's 4 clicks on V-zone/L-zone at 20 for me between dacron and FFF, user results may vary.

I am pretty sure I ordered FFF string and used it instead of the string that came with the bow. I will now take off the FFF and put on the standard. I will also check out the DVD again to see if I can find the adjustment section. Looking at hotburn 76's picture, is the 1 1/8" supposed to be the height off the run way? This brings another question: a bow shooter looked at my bolt today and asked if it was supposed to have something with a grove screwed on the back or flat with a screw hole? I have been shooting the bolts with nothing but a screw hole in the back.

Put your Bow in another room, order a pizza and watch the entire DVD twice with no distractions! LOL!! If you look at my pic, then look at your CB you should see two marks in that area. I always set it on the mark closest to the scope end of the CB, it's the 1 1/8 mark AWSHUCKS is talking about. Good luck and thanks for keeping us up to date on this.
