Is a barnett RX 150 any good?

no. about 220 fps. they make better models. i would recommend saving that money you have for a barnett and add more to it as you are able and save for an excalibur. be sure to buy it from dan miller at horizontal archery in sardis ohio. my opinion is the excalibur is the most rugged and dependable crossbow on the market and dan miller, well what can i say ? he takes VERY good care of his customers.

One Parker, my 'stand bow'. One Excal, for extreme accuracy and just plain fun to shoot and maintain. But hey, if you're happy with what you shoot that's all that matters, eh?

You got that right! I got my first Bnett before Excals were being made, the other two before I ever heard of Excal. I had ordered a Quad 400 from Cabella's one day, heard about Excal the next, ordered an Emax, the UPS truck delivered both the same day. Never even opened the Quad box til a friend bought it off me a week or so later. Blew it up trying to get groups under 3" at 20 yds. Time has robbed me of my memory of what model the middle one was, but the trigger had to be 12-15 lbs and no accuracy. The first, a Commando ate servings in 20 shots max, didn't know how to serve then, so took it back to Gander Mountain and got a PSE which was a nock buster.
