Default Slicks yet Again

Was gonna pm Smoke w/ this and then decided w/ all the Slick hoopla to post instead. Alot of the older members here and some of you newer guys know that I have a short term memory problem due to a bout w/ bacterial menengitus in spring of 05. 12 days of massive IV's of antibiotics, which is probably why I can't remember what bow you have for 2 days running, lol.

I did some tests w/ Slicks and 2" Blazers on shucked down GT's, brass inserts, formerly 431 gr. I got good groups, but NOT where the field tips were shooting, think they were about 1 1/2" high left at 30 yds.

I promptly went back to the 4" duravanes on Millers Killers, as they have become to be known. So....... if ya roll yer own, do yer own tests, just wanted to make y'all aware of something I just remembered from a year ago, lol. Btw: yer memory IS NOTthe 1st thing that goes, lol. [Eyes are gettin bad, too]

So the slicks and 2" Blasers don't geehaw! The 4" vanes steer the slicks better.

IMHO, they both shoot them well, just the Blazers don't have same poi as field points.

I am getting different results, I am using 2" Blazers and getting great groups. I used to use the 4" and found them OK but not consistent. I made a few arrows with 2" to try the Grim Reapers (which also group great) and when I screwed on a slick I found them to be more consistent than the 4".. Go figure..
Deer open here in 14 days, 14 long days.. I have put my share of preparation into my first hunt so there is still a lot of testing/practicing to do yet. I will probably try the 4" again in the next couple days to confirm what I have been seeing, the last time I tried a slick with a 4" it cost me a toilet seat.

I think i may cut my 2216's down from 22" to 20". Ithink the Foc is lacking when i shoot 100gr. B'Heads. They're find with field pts.[:-]

David, I got good groups also w/ Slicks and 2" Blazers, just off some from poi w/ field points.

Got poor results with 100gr magnums and the Excal bolt with 5" vanes. Poor graouping. Swithced to 100 gr regulars Slicks and group shrunk. Couldn't have guessed that 1/8' width difference would have mattered, but it did. Can't be weight forward issue, since weight is the same. Magnums fly well with Carbon Express and 4" vanes with another bow. The Excal bolts are about 70 grains lighter overall, however. Since it's a flat nock/moon nock difference, I havn't tried them the other way to determine if it's the bow. Must be the big vanes and bigger broadhead not compatiible.
