Default Anyone up for the 1,000 shot challenge this year?

Just like last year, I'm challenging myself to shoot 1000 shots with the crossbow and see how few misses I can shoot. Last year I shot from 15-30 yds (I did it in sequence, ie- 30,15,25,20,30,15,25,20, etc.,so that I would not shoot from the same place twice and that I would have the same number of shots from each distance). My target was a 9" circle- outside of that is a miss. This year I would like to increase the challenge for myself and shoot out to35 yds. with the same 9" target, all shot off-hand. Last year I missed 8 out of the thousand shots. I hope to do better this year. Would anyone like to join me in this? I had a few takers last year, but if I remember right, only 2 or 3 finished. Oh, I'll probably try to usejust onebolt again for the whole thing. I thought it was kinda cool to do that last year and then get my deer with the same bolt.

Well, I'm shootin' good so far. My first 100 shots went without a miss on my 9" circle. Last year I wanted to keep it simple so I just had one sight pin and would hold it high or low depending on my distance. It worked pretty well but Iknow I'm shooting better with 4 pins- set for 10,20,30,and 40 yds. I also seem to shoot better with both eyes open. I think that I had a tendency to drop the crossbow after the shot (and occasionally during the shot) to see where the bolt went. When I keep both eyes open, I can watch it fly all the way to the target without moving the crossbow. So far all of my shots have been with one bolt. We'll see if it lasts for the full 1,000 shots. Is there anyone else out there that wants to take the challenge? I guess I may have started practicing a bit soon for most hunting seasons but I want to hunt pronghorn in Aug.- only 4 months away!!!

Wish I could do some 3-D shoots. I used to go with the longbow but I don't know any around here that allow crossbows.

This shoot is the closest one to me, 116 miles round trip. I enjoy it and someone else to talk to and shoot with. When i leave here i will be like you no where to shoot 3-D's unless i get lucky.

So far so good. I've taken 250 shots and had one miss. It was so close I almost counted it a hit (about 1/4" outside the 9" circle), but I have to be honest- it was a miss from 35 yds. Hopefully I'll be able to keep this up and have just a few more misses for the 1000 shots. Lots of fun and great practice for hunting. Hopefully I'll be chasing prairie goats in just over 3 months. Anyone else (beside Smokepole)want to take the challenge?
