Default Metal Burning smell???

I'm shooting an Excal Exocet 200 , shooting XX78 2213's 22" long with 100 gr point. 4" vanes. I have the string and serving waxed well. Its not the serving that is smelling. I dont think anyways.. It smells like metal burning smell. I can see the wear on the rail where the Bolt rides. Is this normal?

Thanks

Ok Henry just what are you doing at night shooting a crossbow? Hmmmm?
Usually that smell is a sign that you need more wax on your serving. Have you put lots on and heated the wax into the serving?

My wife was shooting the Vixen the other day and started to make a smell like a lighter with out the fame and I waxed it and the smell went away. Try putting more wax in and heat it until the wax can't be seen and wax it again. You aluninum shafts maybe creating the smell as well. When you say you can see some wear on the rail do you mean that the anodizing is being scraped off?

Ya know I was going to stay out of this but what the heck why not.

I was thinking the same thing! Why would you pratice shooting your CB at night? But they do say you need to practice as close as you can to your hunting situations.......

Ok, I'm not laughing, honest! But one question Henry, the lights you were using were they on a car or handheld?
