I just got the pleasure of finding out what happens when your foot slips off the sturrip, when cocking a crossbow, tends to be a little painful, it has been raining here today, for the past couple of days , been itching to do some shooting so took the ProElite out today and was doing some shooting and on about the 14th or so shots while cocking the crossbow had the string almost all the way back and my foot slipped off the stirrup, the crossbow launched upward right into the bottom of my ribcage,ouch, have a nice 4 or so inch strawberry and will prolly be bruised. so if you are shooting and it is damp outside use caution,, not somthing I wish to repete. started wiping foot on pant leg before stepping on stirrup after that.. didnt stop shooting though.. gotta love shooting a crossbow..

OUCH OUCH. I always make sure my shoe is in as far as I can get it......in the sturrip that is. Way too many body parts for that xbow to latch onto as it works it's way skyward in that milli seconds.....what a thought.

Htoler i found out to, that when it slips out it can be a bitch. I wear a size 13 boot and you can't get it in all the way, so when i'm out in the woods i slide my foot into the stirup i put my foot against a tree so the xbow can't slide out. I bought a Horton cocker this year so i hope it helps. Rich

Sorry to hear that Pro Elite up and bit you, jealous over that Excal!I have always made sure my foot is in stirrup good. Don't want mine to up and get me, they can thump![]

Is this anything like cutting yourself on your own knife ?
I've done that before too , and it was decidedly unpleasant . Glad to hear you weren't seriously hurt .

yep I realized that could be a problem the first time I cocked mine (and almost did the same thing), but so far so good....it's gotta hurt[:@]

I let my brother in law shoot a few a couple of weeks ago....and warned him about keeping his fingers below the string....[&o] I still had to stop him from fireing twice before he took his fingers off. I guess you could say that he's not the sharpest broadhead in the quiver

Hummmm,been shooting with accudraw for 20 years and it never bit me yet it dont dry fire either. Lee

Well I replaced my accudraw with an accudraw 50, and with the regular accudraw you would never have that problem,, I am going to replace my drop tine stirrup with a standard style , so hopefully this will not happen again..

Henry, I'm always staring at the stock when I am cocking my bow, imagining what just happened. I think I will order an "supersized" stirrup. Thanks for taking the smack instead of me! LOL. Hope your chest and dignity is intact and I hope no one saw it happen!

I was bench shooting my xbows, got an old wood door on two saw horses and one of those automotive stools w/ about 5 wheels. I got lazy and started cocking them while sitting down on it. Not too hard for Vixen, Phoenix or Paradox. Did it w/ E'max ONE time! I could feel it starting to slide, but hurried the last few inches w/ rope cocker and got it done before it came off my foot. Could have been a Forrest Gump moment!!

Here is another tip for you Excal guys. Now bear in mind this has NEVER happened to me, I'm only relating a story a friend told me, lol, but if your limb hits an object while firing, moveable or not nasty things happen real quick! If you're left handed like me and your right limb hits something your stock wants to violently fly to the left. However, if your left limb does same, the stock will attempt to launch your dentures right outta the side of your mouth, bypassing your lips. Sure glad I've NEVER done this!! lol.
