Well guys I have been itching to try mechs for a while and I think this year I am going to give it a try. I have been looking at these babies all summer. I don't intend this post to be a mech debate post but was just curious if anyone knows someone that has used these heads before. And for you Don, I thought you used mechs but could not remember which kind. This blade looks like it has a good cut on contact tip that is strong and not weak looking. I always worried about the kind that has to fold all the way back on a hinge but I know guys use them but I always wandered if this helps with the deflecting shots on angles that some guys talk about. This head looks like it would start to enter and then the blades would be forced back before total enrty. Tell me what you mech guys think and use!

They come with 1 5/16 cut. But you can upgrade to 1 1/2 inch cut if you buy wider replacment blades for twelve bucks, not sure why they just don't sell them with wide blades first off? I use Crimson Raptor mechs. in 100 gr. They have an inch and a half cutting area and have a patented Spin-Tite Airfoil Technology to spin-stabilize the arrow from the front. And they are so sharp, they scare indians! LOL

I use wasp jack hammers. I bought a card of the Techans but the blades release so easily that I never tried them. They look really good but I cannot trust them. The new ones that you are going to get are going to be Techan 2s that apparently have the problem solved. I have read that many have used them with great success. I think you'll do well Jason. They are supposed to be really tough.

I Shot a NAP spitfire 125 mech with the new Kinetic no band technology thing. let me say that it blew the stuffing out of my bag target and it left a huge hole in the backside exit wound. the thing about mechs is that they leave a basketball sized exithole but not much of an entry.

Well guys I just wanted to give an update on these heads. They are awsome!!! Well at least for target pratice anyway!! I shot them friday evening and none, I mean none of them drifted on me, they all hit right dead on with the exception they are all at the bottom of the bullseye compared to my feild points, must be a tad bit heavier or a little more wind drag to slow them down, but still only about one and a half inch low!! Also as the tree rat said most mechs do not open until partway into the deer but these along with a few others have what I think is called the cam design and are forced to slide back as the cut on contact tip enters the skin and the blades are forced to be open before they enter the deer!! Most the mechs have a rear hinge and the blades have to fold back and thus not opening until part way into the deer, but not these!! and it works I measured all my POI's before I pulled them out and had between one and one eighth of and inch and one and one quarter of an inch slice in the foam!! Full deployment!! Now tonight I want to try DNK's paper test to make sure the are not premature opening up, but hey if they are I really don't care because they all flew right on the money!! Also another good thing is that as I did all this pratice I never broke a single blade!! Not one. But if i do its as easy as pie to replace, j ust unscrew the head and the blades slide in from the back!!
