Ditto dat Dnk!! Hey Hog, my extensive, elusive research that you assisted in, has shown me that the McKenzie [orange] xbow target does indeed handle both field and b-heads. Shot my new arrival today and it's great!! Much bewtter than the Block which went to Hades in 200-300 shots

Don't let them talk you into Dnk! Thats just plain nuts!!!
HB76,I didit for over 50yrs and only been charged 5 0r 6 times. The biggest danger isto have someone runningbehindyou with a loaded shotgun or rifle. That's a NO-NOwith me!Side arm and sticking knife only! This is with dogs of course. Hell, down here you have to worry more about the Snakes and Gators, than you do the hogs!:)I would like to take you one time to see the expressions on your face!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D
The only problem is that my expression will be in the back of my pants and not my face! Maybe, but Dnk will have to go first!

DnK, do you have a certain total weight of your bolts that you prefer for hunting deer? I have 3 reloading scales so I have no problem weighing them!

Dnk 04-01-2006 12:06 PM

RE: TARGETS

Nope, my Exocet doesn't seem to care too much about what wieght the broadheads are. I am using 125 grain tips with a total weight of 450 to 453 grains. I am using 20" 2117 eastons. The last deer I took was at 38 yards. Raking away angle and put behind the ribs, came out of the front of its chest. Walked another 30 feet and died on its feet. Was using the old 125 gr wasps that Excal recommended. I am AR about where the string sits on the rail. I figit untill its perfect. I think this is the biggest key to accuracy. I think it takes a back seat to arrow weight FOC etc. If I have to comment on weight I think 100 grains is the lower limit and 125 grains may be better, but there is very little difference in accuracy in my bow if at all.
Don

Sorry I just meant string alignment.

RE: TARGETS

I use Excal's dacron flemish string. It is a two coloured non-continuous, dacron string. You loose a bit of speed, it is easier on the limbs, it is more quiet, and looks cool. You can get different colours.
Reb, that link doesn't work. BTW for an old geezer you are pretty amazing on a computer, most guys my age or older know sweet ---- all and are afraid of computers. Good for you Reb!

Whadda you mean by "string alignment" Dnk???
It means that the string is pulled straight back and no side to side so that that each limb had the same amount of tension. Mark the serving at rest and when you cock the string the serving is at the same lateral position as it was when at rest.
