im 30 yrs old and just had outpacient back surgery this past friday.
im thinking about using a cocking device for my crossbow this fall to save a little strain on my back.
i have a horton blackhawk crossbow with a 200# draw weight.
do the manual cocking straps help that much or am i pretty much looking at the onesyou use a mech screwdriver to cock your bow..if anyone has any experiance with either type id appreciate any reply on the subject..thanks

The standard rope cocking device does impart a mechanical advantage over just pulling the string back by yourself , usually 2-1 , and keeps the string centered . I'd try that type first , they're cheap enough for that . If the rope cocking device won't work for you then a crank style will .

6475, I am in the process of buying an X-bow also. I have 2 small aneurysms and the doc told me to get one with a cranking device.
I talked to TreeClimber and his wife uses a Barnett 400 with a built-in cocking device. The next one he gets will be the same!

as rebel said my wife uses one and it works real well.it came from Barnett and It should work on most , you may have to drill a hole for the bolt to go through.
most manufactors have one that fits there bows.
