I like the idea, but the only jerky I make is not a homemade recipe so its not real unique. Otherwise, I like the idea.

Well I think 15 would be a good number to shoot at. That way if some drop out or just no show we could still have a good contest.
For those of you that are interested please say so. Then start sugesting rules and what to judge the jerkey on. Like taste ect...
Need to get your e-mail so we can contact eachother directly if possible.
So far
1. NO MIXES allowed must be made from scratch
2. NO STORE made jerkey
3. NOTHING weard like, Well you can think of them.
4. MUST be made in a clean cooking area as we do not want anyone to get sick.
5. Each person will be isued a number at random. Samples are to be labled with this
number. No names
6. Your recipe must be sent to the neutral and at the end of the contest copies will be
sent to all who entered the contest.
Ok, now its your turn
Have you ever been to a contest like this or for salsa or chili? What kind of rules did they have? Any suggestions or ideas?
It was suggested that a collection be made to cover the price of the plaque.
Could even use some help here. Anyone out there good with wood?
Well must get back to my to do list of things. I am on page 1 of what seems to be a total of 100. Just not enough time for one person to do it all.
Contact me.
Thanks,
Rick

I don't have a jerke recipe but I would like to see the ones used.

I would like to make some jerke without sugar.

Why not have a small entry fee for the entrys that would pay for the plaque ?

Say 15 entrys X ? that would pay for how ever much a plaque would cost .

And get a proffesanal plaque made.

Well theres my $.02 cents worth.

Oh yea posting in offseason for every one to see this is a good Idea.

And who would you get to judge the contest ?

Good Luck

:DWho uses sugar in their jerky[:@][:o]

jrbsr, Jerky is simple to make. I will have a little problem making a recipe becouse I just have a base that I use and add to it.
Do a search on jerky there is a lot of info out there. Look at the basics and add some spices that you like. When I first tryed I made several small batches. Each one I made had a number and what was in it. Several turned out bad and I learned from that. Hint, Never add dry spice to the meat after you soak it, bad news.
Watch useing alot of salt or salty products
Well Its time to get ready for work.
Good Luck
Rick

With 15 contestants you could have everyone get in a large circle and have like a circle "jerky" thing, for your "cookoff" thing..
