After the days hunt , whether it was for doves ducks or quail . We would clean the birds real good , and throw them in the crock pot with diced carrots , potato's onions and add rice. On top of all that a couple of cans of mushroom soup. The birds would slow cook for several hrs while the gear was cleaned and put away, and as we relived the days events and swapped other stories. In no time at all the crock pot would be done and the meal would be served. Cold sodas fresh bread and brews.

BB, We go dove hunting in S. Texas every year and take a grill with us to cook the birds. We breast them and wrap them in bacon as described above, but add a slice of onion and a sliver of fresh jalapeno before wrapping them in the bacon. (If you remove the seeds, the jalapenos usually aren't that hot) We slow cook them on the grill right there in the motel parking lot. It's a great way to unwind and have a few beers, etc and then top it all off with a good meal. I don't know much about duck, but I've had smoked goose that was good and I've also cut the goose breast into chunks and cooked it with wild rice and cream of mushroom soup or the Lipton's powdered onion soup mix. Enjoy!
