Default Alligator

A friend shot a gator it was 8' & around 300lb's i believe. Anyway he gave me 2 packages of meat, I was wondering if anyone had a recipe? I don't know what the cuts are, The package says #1 fresh Florida Alligator meat, he only got 25lbs of meat back from the butcher, kind of a small amount? I'm assuming he only got the tail back, he mentioned that the butcher ran the meat threw a tenderizer. Anyway I'm hoping to cook it up and give it a try, so any good recipes would be appreciated.

Making my mouth water thinking about it... I don't have a recipe, but I've ate twice at a place in Homestead, Florida... near the entrance to the everglades at a place called Gator Grill. They serve it grilled with a sauce drizzled over it, and it really is good.

That grilled gator with sauce picture looks delicious! I've only had it once as a deep fried appetizer with more breading than meat, so i don't really count that. I'm looking forward to eating it, thanks for the recipes.

Yes, I would avoid frying it. The meat, grilled, was full of flavor and juicy. If you fry it it will just taste like everything else fried.
