Default best jerky gun?

I have a little Nesco jerky work kit gun, and just bought a Cabela's Blaster for the larger capacity.

Don't know if I got a bad Cabela's gun or not but I had to pump the crap out of it, compared to the Nesco. So, I may be in the market again and have a cabela's gun for sale soon.

Never used one so I really can't comment or recommend a good one. However, have you ever tried just using raw deer trimmings for jerkey. I've had other folks' jerkey that has been put through a shooter and it's really good, but I personally prefer the texture of the un-groud meat.

I have a Cabelas gun also. Works great.

Wildchild, you are getting too much air in there when you fill the gun. Try using a long handled spoon or something to push the meat farther down. Just filing smaller amounts at a time instead of a big glob helps get less air trapped.

They sell a plunger for these jerky guns, I believe.

I just use a plastic long handled spoon.

I have the big Cabelas and it is great. I had the smaller jerky shooter prior and the handle split apart.
