RE: Venison bacon
No! Traditional Bacon is made from pork bellies Pork fat tastes good. Ask Emeril. Deer don't have much inter meat fat. what they have is usually just under the skin or in the abdominal cavity and it tastes bad. Peameal bacon is made from the pork loin, this can be duplicatedwith a venison loinbut it tastes entirly different more like a pastrami than bacon.

RE: Venison bacon
I read alot in this Thursdays Chicago Tribune's FOOD section about bacon. From the various descriptions of different bacons on the cover I deduced the same thing - no true bacon from deer.
However, smoked deer baconis advertised at the butcher shop I use in Vienna. I was intrigued by this deer bacon for sure. I had my mind set on trying some out this season, but I will question how it is made first. (Course ya gotta harvest a deer first I suppose)
