Default Puff balls

Ever eat them? I know of folks that have and I found a biggun last night. I don't know shrooms well enough to eat it though. Lookin for an expert.

Cyclone, I've eaten puff balls several times. They're good if fixed correctly. Just dip em in some egg and dredge em in some seasoned flour. Then fry them till crisp in a small amount of butter. You'll like em if you like other mushrooms.

First, if I were you, I'd look on the net to identify it and make sure you have a puff ball.

They are next to heaven if they're not over ripe. (dark inside) Just slice them 1/2" thick and fry them in a frying pan in butter.

I bought a book on the subject. "Edible Mushrooms of North America" Yep, it's a puffball, I thought it was a human skull when I first saw it. I've found lots of them over the years but never thought of eatin em. I'll study the book carefully and nibble on the next one.

Thanks.

I did Saturday TV show this morning featuring freshly harvested venison and puffball mushrooms. Here's the link to the recipe.
