Cyclone, I've eaten puff balls several times. They're good if fixed correctly. Just dip em in some egg and dredge em in some seasoned flour. Then fry them till crisp in a small amount of butter. You'll like em if you like other mushrooms.

I bought a book on the subject. "Edible Mushrooms of North America" Yep, it's a puffball, I thought it was a human skull when I first saw it. I've found lots of them over the years but never thought of eatin em. I'll study the book carefully and nibble on the next one.
