RE: best arrow rest,,, and best arrows
I will have to agree with the others on arrows. I've shot many different ones, but recently decided to pick up some ACC 3-60's. Man they shoot great. They are definitely worth the exta money.
I too was using a DZ. It worked great for me, but I wanted to try something with full containment. I picked up a QAD Ultra Rest on Ebay last month. I absolutely love this rest. You can lock the launcer arm into position before you start to draw. For me, I don't seem to worry as much about the arrow falling off during the draw. You can also let down slowley and not have to worry about the arrow falling off. It also has full containment, which is great for tree stand hunting. It seems to be as quiet as the DZ, although I have not done any side by side comparisons. Some have had some fletching contact issues, but if you set it up to lift the launcher the last 1/2" of the draw, you shouldn't have any problems. Good luck on your decision! |
RE: best arrow rest,,, and best arrows
Well, as far as a good all around hunting rest, the Whisker Biscuit by far. For shooting strictly 3d, probably the drop zone. For arrows, probably ACC's for target. I've used my bow for a lil bit of 3d stuff with my hunting set up of Carbon Express CX-200's

RE: best arrow rest,,, and best arrows
ive never tried a drop away, but for me the whisker biscuit is by far the best way to go. keep it simple. arrows i like the hidden insert technology, so i go with axis. i realize that strength is for hunting, but i like to shoot basically the same set up for consistency, so id shoot those arrows....they wont hurt your 3-d score im sure

RE: best arrow rest,,, and best arrows
For me the best rest is the Golden Key Futura Infiniti Drop away.... I looked at it as a strickly 3D rest.. but then I was so impressed with its performance at 3D that I used it this last bow hunting season to harvest every animal I took.. it worked Flawlessly;) I also use some black moleskin where the rest laucher arms contact the riser to combat the noise issue.
I use CXL 150 Selects and Gold tip Ultra Lite Pro 22 Series Arrows for 3D... both work great for me.... I prefer fat shafts for catching those lines in 3D ... But as you said ( but my arrows looked to be fishtailing at 45 yards not sure if my arrow broadhead combo was right but ) This I belive is your 1st question you need to answer.... the best rest isnt going to solve the problem of an improperly setup arrow. Tell us what your arrow setup is and then what your bow setup is... make sure you are working with a properly spined arrow and optimum arrow setup.... just my 2 cents;) |
