Hi I'm new. I have a question. I bought some land up on a little mountain, we call them knobs here in Ky. My land starts on one side of hill then goes down in valley then back up another hill. When I'm down in that valley there is no wind? It was raining tonight when i was down there and I could hear the wind go across the tops of the trees but down where I was at nothing. Is this good?

yeah its all hardwoods. Little creek running thru middle of it but I think it drys up in summer. Lots of oaks so I'm gonna set up in middle of this one oak grove I found and hope for best. Trails everywhere. I bought it in the spring but last winter i was checking it out and seen alot of scraps and rubs in that area.

Sounds like a pretty good spot. Remember that your scent will be carried uphill in the mornings as the sun warms the valley. Even though you have no wind, the convection air currents may come into play. The opposite will occure in the evenings. Any idea where the deer may be bedding for the day?

thats were it gets interesting. I have seen some places were they have been laying down on side of hill that i will be walking down to get to my stand location. The side of the hill is real rocky but once ya get down to were it levels off its ok. This early in the season I aint walking thru them rocks if ya know what i mean(Snakes). Cut me a path down to my stand location at an angle so i could stay away from them rocks. If this is were they're bedding hopefully i can catch them coming back in. What ya think??

I am from southeastern ky around here the bucks like to travel the ridge tops in the morning. All the bucks I have killed have been on top of the mountian. I think I would hunt the oaks. What county are you in? 4 days till bow season I can't wait!!!!
