I hunted Saturday morning and had no luck. I had a deer about 10yds away but it was still dark. Hunted till about 9 then left for home to cut the lawn. I headed back at 3 and decided to try a new area. I took my portable stand and headed into the woods. I found an area with 100's of green acorns in about a 40 yd circle. Trails came to it from all directions. I choose a tree and climbed up to about 20 feet. Five o'clock came and so did the rain. A light shower at first. I noticed movement to my left. 8 does on their way to my setup. They came within 15yds of me when the THUNDER started. The wind blew hard and the rain came down harder! Lightening lit up the sky. I felt a little shaky in an aluminum stand high in a tree! The deer bunched together and stood almost still until the storm passed. One of the bigger does came in to 10 yds offering a broadside shot. I was worried about the blood trail in the rain. I knew if I made a double lung shot, she would not travel more than 50 yds. I picked the sweet spot and released. I watched her run off, make a half circle, and go down! No more than 40 yds. I sat down, gave thanks, and made my way down the tree. I waited 10 minutes. My arrow had passed through and the blood trail was already washing away. Here comes the rain again.... I walked where I had seen her go down and found her there. The shot was perfect. Now I can take a buck..

Congratulations Joe!
Did you take her on the land you posted the photos earlier?
Good Luck on the Buck!

Nice story. You won't forget that one! I bet you get begged to go with by your little man! I know mine does, and he looks about the same age. It'll be fun when he's old enough!
