The differences are basically listed on Hoyts website. www.hoytusa.com. Basically differenct specs. As for performance, both bows are close to the same, except the MagnaTec is going to be a bit faster, again on hoyts website. I would list the specs for each bow, but don't have my catalog now. Both bows would be an excellent choice for a beginner. Both are very shootable.

They are similiar, but if it were me I would go with the magnatec. Again, go to www.hoytusa.com and check out the specs.

I bought a Magna Tec last winter, and I love it! I killed 3 deer this past season with it. For the money, it is extremely smooth, quiet and fast....I feel it performs as well as any high priced bow on the market. I did go a little extra and purchase the better limbs the "XT-2000" I highly recommend them. I don't think you can go wrong with this bow. Oh yeah....I shoot carbons at 63lbs and 31" draw and get about 260fps. Am boosting up the weight to 68 for next season.

I bought the MT sport. For the 2001 model, the Magna Tec had a built in Overdraw which I didn't like. I believe changed this in the 2002 model. I shot them both and liked the feel of the sport better.

Last year I was highly recommending the MTSport...even over the Magnatec because the MTSport had a larger brace height, shorter axle to axle length and close to the same IBO speed but for less money. The MTSport also didn't have the built in overdraw system so you had more flexibility.
This year things have changed.
The Magnatec with XT2000 limbs is now about a half inch shorter than the MTSport at 35 inches. The Magnatec's brace height is now a solid 7 inches as opposed to last year's "sub 7 inch" brace height. Hoyt also removed the built-in overdraw on the Magnatec making it even more attractive. Finally, the IBO speed rating for the MTSport dropped about 20 fps from last year's estimate with the same cam. The dual track idler wheel is probably what is responsible for this.
For 2002 I would go with the Magnatec with either limb option over the MTSport.
But, if you can find a 2001 model MTSport I would snatch it in a heartbeat.

I bought the MT Sport at the beginning of last season and have nothing but good things to say about it. I made my decision based on price and flexibility. I didn't like the built in overdraw on the Magantech and the price difference was a little over $100. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. I took two deer with it this year. (seems to be a lucky bow as well

I just bought the MT Sport before Christmas. As soon as I picked it up I knew it was right for me. I shot it a couple times and bought it the same day. I haven't had the chance to hunt with it yet, but I have been shooting it as often as possible. I also switched to Gold Tip XT's. At 70lbs and a 28.5" arrow I shot 274 fps.
