I killed seven bucks over the last few years before taking my first mature doe last year at the end of the season; I hardly even see any does!

Here in Central Minnesota I think I get 14-17 shot opportunities on does to 1 buck shot opportunity. We're working on changing that!

I hate to not jump on the band wagon.............................BUT
Guys really, a Mature doe over a mature buck. I guess thats why so many record book bucks are taken each year. If a mature doe is really the hardest to hunt then maybe we should have a "Madam Record Book", you know the distance between the ears, # of teets and worn teeth add up the score to make the book.
Sure both young does and bucks are equally easy to harvest. But my vote goes to MR. Wiley. Afterall ain't that the reason that we can't sleep at night before heading to our stand. For me it isn't that "OLD Mature Doe".
Hey we all have are reasons/opinions but......I SAY REALLY GUYS!!!!!

For the most part your correct skeeter , but remember the rut? Mr Wiley , isn't as wiley anymore , but the old doe becomes even more wiley during the rut.

I don't know about you guys but there is a record book here in Ky for does.It starts at 140# field dressed and I almost got in.139# didn't make it.
An old doe is tuff but so is an old buck, unless of course,he is in rut.
Here in Ky it seems like year after year the does get tougher due to the fact that they are in season from beggining to end. It's been like this for several years now.We even have a doe only weekend at the end of the gun season,at least we did last year. You could still take a buck if you were hunting with a bow.

Bowfantic, yes the rut does make it possible to harvest Mr. Wiley...but thank god we have a equally factor! I still doubt most hunters will ever put down a true trophy year in year out (Min. 150). My vote is still Trophy Mature Bucks. Afterall who looks forward to the RUT for 12 months to hunt Mature Does!!!!!
TFox, sorry to hear you missed the book by a pound...I guess you should have stuffed more lead in her for the "Official Scorer's Weigh in"! I guess that would be unethical...bad hunter thoughts.
I can just see it now, guys will be rushing to the store to buy the new "MONSTER DOES" Part 1. Featuring 12 guide trophy Doe hunts with Team Realtree. (Sorry I couldn't resist after the Team Realtree Post a few weeks back)
Boys & girls, whether it's doe's or bucks you pine for have a great season and best of luck finding "MR. or MRS Right"!

Old deer of both sexes are tough but my vote has to go to the old gray chined doe.
She has raised more than a few fawns and that motherly instinct is always there year round
.Mr. Big Horns takes care of number one and during the rut not even him!

Older bucks hands down harder to hunt than older does.
