The quietest bow possible?

I've become obsessed with getting the quitest bow possible. I think I have a good start with a Legacy. I have all the obvious items such as string silencers, stabilizers, limb savers, etc. What other things can you do to get the quitest bow possible?

Hunt the thickets

Add string silencers to your cables. Use a Sim's cable slide. Use the smaller limb savers on your rests, and sights. Shoot without your quiver(if you hunt from a stand take it off). Add a limb saver to the end of your stablizer if there is a bolt there. Shoot a peep sight without a tube(the tube whisels). Those are just a couple suggestions. With the silencers on your cables, you lose speed though.

Belle,
Shooting a heavy arrow helped a little with my set-up also. Brute listed everything else to get you started.

Buy a sight and rest with no moving parts.

Do all the above plus. wherever you have metal to metal contact with an accessory and the riser, you should put moleskin between them. Put string leeches on your cable. Once everything is set right where you want it, put the milder thread lock on all your screws and it will keep them from coming loose and rattling. An extra set of limb savers will help some and they weigh almost nothing. When you get done, your bow may be quieter than some longbows, and that will be at almost twice the speed.

JimPic got it right! My Chek-Mate Crusader longbow is unbelievably quiet. I thought all of my other traditional bows were quiet until I got it. Now when I am at the Archery Shop praciticing, the noise of the &quot;quiet&quot; Mathews bows is unbelievable.

As for compounds, the Hoyt Tec series and the Bowtec Patriot.

My bow was very noisy - to me anyway.

I was at the pro shop over the weekend for my annual safety check & had the bow checked out. Seems that all I needed was some wax on my bowstring and a new washer for my stabilizer. I am new to bowhunting and was not aware of how much the wax helps on the bowstring.

Couldn't believe the difference. It was shooting so quietly, the wife thought that I'd bought a new bow.

I guess it's all relative though. Guys at the range thought that the bow was quiet already. :)

old beat up practice arrows will cause a bow to be noisy also.what i like to do is use last years huntin arrows(if theres any left...<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> ) for this years practice and buy new ones to hunt with,at least every second year.

The Saunders Pro Deadly Quiet!!

I bought one last year and am definately impressed! I made the mistake of keeping it on all year for leagues and 3d and wore the rubber stop out pretty quick. No problem , I called Saunders and they had a new and improved rubber stop , so they sent me two extra ones for no charge. I put mine on the week before the season starts just to get a few shots through it. Even if you already have all of the other shock doohickys , you'll notice a difference.
