just wondering if a pse deer hunter set at 40lbs is enough to take a deer at 35 yards with a well placed shot.

In my opinoin no, not at 35 yards, maybe at 20 but IMO 40lbs. isnt enough.

I would limit my shots to 20 to 25 yds max..

A perfectly placed shot within the inch could take it down within two steps, but you answer me honestly how often can you pic a hair and split it. i would like to see a little more weight, however Indiana only requires 35 pounds for deer hunting.

No, too much can happen before the arrow reaches it's target and thus a poor hit if a hit at all.

I'd suggest using an arrow weighing at least 400 grains, a cut on contact head like the Magnus Stinger and limiting your shots to 30 yards and under - and 30 only when you just know you've got the mojo working and can put that arrow exactly where you want it. Would it kill a deer at 35 yards? Yes, it would, but the question is would it be a quick, clean kill? I just wouldn't recommend trying it.

I would not shoot anything over 20 yards with it. I would personally only shoot 15 yards and under.
