Actually theres still a chance it get pulled back by June. I was at Field and Stream on Brownsboro Rd. and had a chance to talk to Glenn Watson who works for the Fish and Game Dept. in Frankfort. He told me its still not final but its about 90% final. Yeha, I also have saw alot of Hortons and Ten Points being stocked at the archery spots in town. I dont know alot of ppl who use them in the woods though. Its really not going to affect me.

I wouldn't worry about it. We have crossbows here in Ohio and you rarely see anyone in the woods with them. At first you'll see a couple of crossover gun hunters, but they'll fall off after a couple of years. I'm sure at first you'll see some increased traffic in the woods, but give it five years and the newness will wear off and everything will get back to normal.

Not trying to ruffle any feathers but you guys on each side of the issue need to build a bridge and get over it. Changes happpen for the good and bad, we can either make the most of it and move on or sit and fight about it and get nowhere. With the antis breathing down all our necks right now the last thing we need to worry about or fight over is what is legal or illegal. If your state determines this issue it to be, or not to be, you need to support your local state Fish and Wildlife agency. We need to take a stand and be more unified as a hunting community. I don't care if you like to rifle hunt, muzzleloader, pistol, shotgun, or just bowhunt with any bow or X-bow. Same goes for what animals we hunt. We all have our favorites, and not a one is more or less inportant than another! Here in Idaho we have had some rule changes with the use of 4 wheeler, ATV's and hunting. Talk about a big huge fight, about half are for it and the other half are against it. Both sides have valid points and I agree and disagree with both sides because of it. I don't know what side I would pick if I had too, but I do support my local Fish and Game and obey the laws that they make. Because of the fighting it has attracted the tree huggers and they are trying to use our indecisivness to propose new rules to shut down roads and trails to everyone on both sides of the issue. With bringing in the X-bows maybe they are trying to recruite new hunters to the sport of bowhuning? This is just a guess and their reason doesn't matter, what matters is people will not fight and try to be united. Just my 2 cents.

I agree a 100 percent.I was a bow hunter in Ohio when it took place there. After two years Everyone got along just fine.Heck I even made new hunting buddies and they carried crossbows!!!! Don't worry there not going to get " YOUR" big buck. If your worried that someone will kill a buck without learning ther practice time to be a compound bow hunter, when will they have the time to pattern a big buck? JUST ENJOY YOUR SPORT!!!

Don't get me wrong,I have nothing against someone choosing to hunt with a crossbow, especially getting kids introduced to bowhunting with one is a great idea.Heck,my stepdad uses one but with a permit.I just feel they don't need to be allowed for 4 months but I also think the gun season is too long also.Kids under 16 should be allowed to use them all bow season but imo that is it.

Our deer herd is going down and the Quality is definately going up.This is exactly what they want but it won't be long that people are going to get discouraged about hunting because they aren't seeing as many deer. They will start quitting and I believe this is why they are letting the crossbows in because there are fewer hunters already and they are trying to spark an interest.

I will have to ask the shop if they are selling more or less deer tags since going to the call in system was instituted and they started allowing more does to be killed..I know they agree that the deer herd is way smaller, atleast for us in western Ky.

I like what has been done in Ky as far as management but they are starting to get WAY too aggressive now.It is time to start backing off imo.

TFOX, sounds like the problem is with the managment program not with the hunters themself. Same story different state widelife agency. This problem could be told in almost any state. In Idaho we are fighting against the wolves. But fighting amongst each other (hunters) will do nothing but create more problems. But if hunters/sportsman unite and take a stand together it cam and will help solve the problem.

I am new to this debate but, here's my thoughts. I don't have a problem with crossbows, as a matter of fact, I think it may be fun to try. I am a archery hunter. If a state wants to institute a crossbow season I think that would be fine. Archery and Crossbow shooting are not the same so I would think a different season and a different set of regulations may be needed (draw weight, arrow length, arrow weight...) After all, muzzle loaders have a different season and they are a firearm, correct??? The more hunting and hunters the better. Just my 2cents.

I think that is a good idea.
