its because they like to impose there religious beliefs onto the rest of the world. If you want to hunt on Sunday you should be able,if you want to go to church thats fine to.They assume every one is christian but there not.If your jewish i believe there sabath is on Saturday. What if your musslem, buddist, atheist ,agnostic or a whole aray of non christian religous beliefs.Laws like thes should be stricken from the books. What ever happened to seperation of church and state?
Wow now there is a narrowminded, intolerant person. FYI The PA DEC has continued the Sunday no hunting at the request of the state farming industry. Yes that is right, the evil farmers! For you narrowminded, that is sarcasm. The farmers in the state have lobbied to keep Sunday hunt free so that they have a day that they do not have to worry about hunters in their fields when they work them. It is not religious as you assert. So, please take your hatred elsewhere. It is not a church and state issue. I do believe it is a state issue though. The state making to many rules and laws that are unnecessary, period.

NY is closed on sunday and when it is shotgun/rifle season that is only two weekends.... thats why they are thinking of extending it another weekend to try to get more kids involved.. I fortunatly get to work 5 days a week and have some say as to what days I work.....;) I forget why they do this... My dad told me a long tim ago....

Narrow? You can't see anybody else thinking different than your self.
you would rather be told what to do, when to do it and how?Its what others have said its a carry over of the blue laws. Many states have have found them to be out dated and have removed them.As far as I know farmers don't use public land and they should know who and when is hunting there land. so that arguement isn't valid. Sorry if i've ruffled your
feathers, i'm just not not a blind follower i believe in freedom of choice

That's it, DC. The old blue laws. They were designed to make people go to church just to have something to do on Sunday. Most of them have been struck down on grounds of seperation of church and state.

I'm another who doesn't buy into the idea of animals needing Sunday as a day of rest. As said before, there are relatively few people who can hunt during the week, so most deer are already getting at least 5 'days of rest' anyway. At least they would be if it weren't for coyotes, wolves, bears, mountain lions and such. [:-]

I don't know about PA but in the state where I was from (WV) it was definately the religious right that stopped Sunday Hunting. A couple of years ago the current governor repealed the No-Sunday-Hunting-Law, only to have many church goers up in arms. Then referendums county by county were passed to once again restrict Sunday hunting (there are now just a handful of counties that you can hunt in on Sunday) Their ridiculous assertions ranged from letting the animals have a day of rest to so many gunshots that you won't be able to hear the preacher.....gimme a break. The point was that the churches simply did not want competition. However, it is probably just as bad for your salvation to be in church thinking about hunting as it is to just go hunting.

Medic,

you don't have to claim someone is narrowminded for placing the blame where they believe it belongs

It is really too bad that an issue like this divides conservative church-goers and hunters--the majority of both groups share many of the same opinions. Both groups need as much overall support as possible. I hope there is never a law propsed to end many church's tax exempt status in these states--b/c some of the disgruntled hunters might vote for taxation. This is an issue that I can't believe is even an issue. A person should be able to pursue the lawful happiness any day of the week.

RE: Sunday Hunting?

NJ is looking to pass a bill allowing Sunday Bowhunting. Bowhunters with very little time are embracing the idea with open arms.

Surprisingly the ANTI hunters are up in arms. That was sarcasm folks.:D

The antis ran a newspaper ad, it showed a small 6 pointer with an arrow sticking out of its spine. The caption said something about;

6 days isnt enough. Now bowhunters want to WOUND deer seven days a week.

What a bunch of j-rk--ffs!!!

I hope it passes. While for the most part I probably wont hunt on Sundays, it will be nice to have that option.

You guys that already have it are lucky...

i personally think that it should be the person's choice. because some people are in school or working like i am so unless i'm on break from school the weekend including sunday is the only time i have to hunt.
