RE: Gonna get a trx
I have had mine since February. It shoots 250 fps at 27" draw@63lbs with crap all over the string so I think the speed is great. If you have a longer draw you should have no problem tickling close to 300fps.......I just happen to have aligator arms
I had NEVER even shot a bow before I shopped around and bought my TRX. I compared it to many bows from other lines and all price ranges. IMO the TRX shot as good or better then ANY bow I tried. The grip fits me like a mold of my hand........so I bought it.
I shot well with the bow right from the very start........I have since modified it a little bit and today shoot very well with it. My effective killing range is 30 yards with consistent groups of 4" at that range..........Pretty good for a first time archer I would say.
The bow is great........I have limb savers in mine and suggest you (and everyone else) do the same. I have a Golden Key Tranquilizer stabilizer which works great but you have to decide on that.......DON'T JUST GRAB ANYONE.......my TRX shot very well and smooth with no stabilizer and it took me awhile to find one that actually made a difference.
You will be very happy with your bow.........I absolutely love mine and at $400 for a complete package you are getting a STEAL!!!
Now for my only negative.......The SHOCK STOP bumper on the string. It works GREAT!!! but it doesn't last long in my experience. I broke one in about a month. They replaced it immediately (great service) with a new one that wouldn't crack. While this one did not crack it did move around after many whacks by the string and I had to keep re-centering it and tighten the allen bolt which became a pain. The real pain however came when the bumper moved and I didn't notice until the string whacked it crooked and drove it into my forearm leaving a nasty bruise and a lot of pain........That was it for me. I went to the shop and the guy noticed that my prong style rest had plastic from my vanes on it meaning I wasn't getting proper clearence of my arrows............since I needed a new cable slide anyway and I just like new stuff I grabbed a NAP Drop Away rest which has a cable slide with it and had the guy install it. BEST $40 I EVER SPENT!!!! It took us a little while to get it dialed in but once we got it set perfect I found out just how sweet it is to shoot a well tuned proper flying arrow.
My setup is as follows
TRX 27" 63lbs
Limb Savers
TRU-GLOW (cheap site...does the job just fine)
NAP Drop Away Rest
Cat Whiskers
GKF Tranquilizer Stabilizer
Tru-Ball Stinger Release
Beman ICS Camo Hunter arrows with 85 grain tips
Wrist sling
Kwikee Quiver
Enjoy your bow and let me know how you make out with that SHOCK STOP bumper......hopefully they worked out the bugs because that thing makes the TRX absolutely SILENT!!!!
Have fun
