RE: More hog pics....please
Maine here is another photo # three this year. This is the only one that whent down out of sight. Matthews Ultra 2, 72 lbs, with broadhead arrow weighs 465 gr. 37 yard shot Corbon evolution with a NAP spitfireXP 100 gr. from a tree stand, pass through. I was deer hunting and he walked by. So I let my Broadhead eat. Let me know if you are in Georgia well chase some pigs. The hole you see is the entry hole, not the exit 1.5 inches.

|
RE: More hog pics....please
Man, those are some great pictures.
Flat feet, I would love to chase some pigs down there. What does an out of state license cost in Georgia? Is your season very long?? High Tine, That thing is a beast;) What did you shoot him with? How far? What broadhead? Results. etc... |

RE: More hog pics....please
Main, if you come down in deer or turkey season then you need the works about $208.
If you come on down after the deer season Jan 10 through Feb 28 the license is $25 for 7 days. I only hunt with a bow, but the base allows bows, muzzelloaders, and shotgun. The hunting is on a Military base than I am currently assigned to, I put my boat in a river on the back side of the base to hunt isolated areas. Mid Feb is the best time, most the gun hunters are burned out, and quit hunting by then. If you want to find it on a map it is Warner Robins GA about 1.5 hours south of Atlanta, just south of the base is a highway 96 go east to a river called the Ocmulgee. The property is on the west side of the river. We have seen hogs from 20 lbs to 400lbs no size limit or bag limit. There was two killed last year over 350lbs, but man that is allot of work. There is a season in the summer, but you can't see through the bugs, and snakes. Talk to you soon! |
RE: More hog pics....please
Oh Flat Feet,
You're drivin' me nuts man!:) That sounds so nice. The three of us that are going to Florida to hunt this summer, all work as teachers. We have a week off every year the third week of February. Fits nice to your hog season down there. What kind of weather/temps do you get in mid to late Feb? Kev |
RE: More hog pics....please
Morning it's about 28 to 35 average afternoon 40 to 55.
|
RE: More hog pics....please
The biggest factor that time of year is keeping you feet dry it can get wet, depends on the amount of rain!
|
RE: More hog pics....please
20yrds.
Matthews Outback 70# 30" draw. Carbon Xpress 400gr. arrows Muzzy 100gr. 3blade b.h. It only poked in about 5 inches but it was in the heart so it was a dead pig quick. ORIGINAL: mainehunt Man, those are some great pictures. High Tine, That thing is a beast;) What did you shoot him with? How far? What broadhead? Results. etc... |
RE: More hog pics....please
Today is supposed to be about 45 here in Maine. And we'll be thrilled with that! We still have plenty of snow.
So, I guess if a man had a pair of good, insulated hip-boots, he'd be in business. (?) And a canoe? |
RE: More hog pics....please
This year I am getting some chest waiders. I do have a canoe too, could you imagine try to come to full draw in a canoe on a Hog. Maine you gave me somthing to try:D. I know I will end up wet, before, after, or during the shot.
|
RE: More hog pics....please
So, maybe you and I should design and market a life jacket for bows. At least if you fall in, you won't lose your bow.:D
Any more pics?? Kev |

RE: More hog pics....please
These pictures are great folks!!!
PLEASE, keep them coming! It's getting me jacked for my July hunt. Alwyshntn, What is that bow you're shooting?? |
RE: More hog pics....please
ORIGINAL: flat feet Burnie how much was that skull mount? it looks awesome. If you did it please give me directions! First flesh out the head, don't worry about getting everything, just the big chunks, eyes, tong, etc. Boil the skull like a soap bone, in water with backing soda. Don't bring to a hard boil, rather simmer it. Take it out every now and then to pull off more meat and take it to a garden hose and spray out the brains (You will have to do this a couple of times), also, be careful not to break any of the small bones around the eyes, nose or back of skull. The nose cartilage will pull right out when it is ready to come out. Once you got most of the meat off (don't worry about the little bits of tendon and nerves you see around the occipital foramen and occipital condyles (hole where the spine goes in and the two bumps beside it), or little pieces of brain in the skull, it will all come out in the next step. After doing all this, pour out your water and clean the caldron you were using to boil it with, then fill it with about 6 bottles of 3% hydrogen peroxide and top it off with water (you can also soak it in 40 % peroxide solution with out simmering it, its just a little harder to find. but works faster and better). Simmer in the peroxide solution until the bones are bleached to you liking. Once done, rinse it off and let dry. be careful when dumping water, teeth will fall out of the skull. Don't lose them so you can glue them back in with super glue. It also looks great done to deer. Here is a deer I did. ![]() Good luck |
