The first two number represent the diameter of the shaft in 64ths of an inch, hence, a 2315 is 23/64ths of an inch in diameter. the second two numbers is the wall thickness in 1000ths. hence, a 2315 has a diameter of 23/64 of an inch and a wall thickness of 15/1000 of an inch.
